BELMONT STAKES 2007

Rags to Riches became the third filly in history and the first since Belmont Park opened in 1905 to win the longest and oldest leg of the Triple Crown when she got a head in front of favored Preakness winner Curlin on Saturday afternoon and won the 139th running of the Grade 1, $1 million Belmont Stakes – the 1 ½-mile “Test of the Champion.”

Her father, A.P. Indy, won the 1992 Belmont Stakes. Her dam, Better Than Honour, also dropped her half-brother, 2006 Belmont Stakes winner Jazil.

PREGGERS!

Today I announced my pregnancy! I'm 12 1/2 weeks along. Last night we had the 12 week sonogram and here's is baby first picture (well the first picture it actually looks like a baby instead of a tadpole). This will be my husband and my first child and we're due Dec. 16, 2007.

Preakness Finish 2007

Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense lost by a head to Curlin in the second jewel of the Triple Crown. In Saturday's finish Street Sense looked like a sure winner in the stretch, only to be caught in the final stride by hard-charging Curlin and jockey Robby Albarado. And now it's on to the Belmont Stakes, where there won't be a Triple Crown try for the third straight years after six attempts in the previous 10 years. The last Triple Crown champion was Affirmed in 1978.

Preakness 2007

Watch Street Sense this Saturday, May 19 as he attempts to become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978. He'll race the second leg of the triple crown, The Preakness, at Pimlico Race Course in Maryland. The Preakness, at 1 3/16 miles, is the shortest of the Triple Crown races. After that comes the Belmont Stakes here at our very own Belmont Racetrack in June.

As of Monday, only five of the 20 Derby starters were considered potential runners in the Preakness, and they will be joined by at least five 3-year-olds who bypassed the Derby.

7 & 1/2 lifelong learning steps

I find the easiest for me is #1 starting with a clear goal. I think it's always easy to figure out what you want to do but harder to figure out how to get it done.

The hardest for me would be #3 viewing problems as challenges. I tend so see then as problems when I am handling them and not like a challenge to overcome. I don't think I see them as a challenge that helped me grow until after the problem is rectified.
